What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)is an integrative psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound. If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes. The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. Using the detailed EMDR protocols and procedures, we support you in activating your natural healing processes. Attention will be given to a negative image, belief, emotion, and body sensation related to this event, and then to a positive belief that would indicate the issue was resolved. EMDR therapy may be used within a standard talking therapy, as an adjunctive therapy with a separate therapist, or as a treatment all by itself. Learn More Here: EMDR Institute
How Does EMDR Therapy Affect the Brain?
Our brains have a natural way to recover from traumatic memories and events. This process involves communication between the amygdala (the alarm signal for stressful events), the hippocampus (which assists with learning, including memories about safety and danger), and the prefrontal cortex (which analyzes and controls behavior and emotion). While many times traumatic experiences can be managed and resolved spontaneously, they may not be processed without help. Stress responses are part of our natural fight, flight, or freeze instincts. When distress from a disturbing event remains, the upsetting images, thoughts, and emotions may create an overwhelming feeling of being back in that moment, or of being “frozen in time.” EMDR therapy helps the brain process these memories, and allows normal healing to resume. The experience is still remembered, but the fight, flight, or freeze response from the original event is resolved (EMDRIA, 2022). Learn More Here: EMDR Institute

How Do ZenBrain® Intensives Work?
ZenBrain® Accelerated Healing EMDR Intensives can be cost effective for those that may not be able, or want, to financially commit to long-term, weekly therapy. EMDR Intensives may be useful if you are a busy parent, have a demanding career, have time or schedule limitations [weekend Intensives are available], have a specific or an urgent issue you want to target, or are simply seeking rapid, healing results.
Some clients prefer not to come to 50-60 minute a week talk sessions 3 to 4 times a month for a year or more. With ZenBrain® Accelerated EMDR Healing Intensives, you can come for a morning 1/2 day for 3 or more hours. You may be thinking, "That is a long time to talk," but be assured that ZenBrain® Accelerated Healing EMDR Intensives are activity oriented sessions and the time literally will fly by as you experiences lasting, healing benefits. ZenBrain® Accelerated Healing EMDR Intensives are useful if you have limited access to trauma and attachment focused EMDR clinicians in your area and must to travel to participate in an immersive therapy experience. I also work with many clients whose therapists are not yet trained in EMDR or the EMDR Intensives Model as a temporary Adjunct EMDR provider. This can deeply enhance the therapeutic results process with your established, trusted therapist. Reach out for an Adjunct consultation today.
Also, intensives are fantastic when you have big job interview jitters, an important work or academic presentation, are struggling with imposter syndrome, or experiencing performance anxiety. Save time with ZenBrain® Accelerated EMDR Healing symptom-relief, break the rumination loop, improve positive self-talk, relate to others more comfortably through the ZenBrain® EMDR Accelerated Healing progress model.
Am I a Candidate?
ZenBrain® EMDR Intensives are not appropriate for certain life phases and/or problems. Clients that are in active process or substance addiction, in the early stages of DID, or actively self-harming or suicidal with a means, plan, or intent are not a current candidate for ZenBrain® Intensives. Your emotional safety is a top priority at ZenBrain®, so please note that these while these presenting problems are embraced and supported, building a solid foundation from weekly clinical work resulting in strong self-trigger awareness and self-regulation capability are the foundation to safely engage in EMDR Intensives.

ADJUNCT ZenBrain®EMDR INTENSIVES
Absolutely! Even though most therapists would like to be, therapists cannot be trained in every.single.therapy.model—there are just too many. I often refer my own clients to other therapists for adjunct or therapeutic partnering if they use a model that I do not practice if my client can experience benefit. I do work with many clients whose therapists are not yet trained in EMDR or the EMDR Intensives Model as a temporary Adjunct EMDR provider. This can deeply enhance the therapeutic results process with your established, trusted therapist. Reach out for a consultation today.
